The Rainbow Cake Revisited - Not Me Monday

Alternately titled "Yes, I'm Another Year Older"

(The Rainbow Cake December 2009)

This was last years birthday cake, which I made for myself just a little late.

After someone posted a cute song on my Facebook wall this morning about putting another candle on the cake I thought I would make myself a birthday cake on my birthday this year.

Then I remembered.....

The rainbow cake is *not* STILL in the freezer.

Of course not. I would *never* leave a cake in the freezer for a whole year.

(The Rainbow Cake December 2010)

And I most certainly did *not* take the cake out of the freezer and decide it would do for this year as well.

Oh no...*not me*

-Though Mckmama is no longer hosting Not Me Monday, I think I will post my own from time to time; it's just too much fun.

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Reading Mckmama's Not Me post this morning has not caused me to seriously crave McNuggets, and I certainly won't be hitting the drive through as soon as I am done with this post...I am trying to grow a healthy baby after all!

Most Sundays I do not wear a dress to church because I dislike playing the organ in a dress. My organ has a full pedalboard and it just seems so unladylike. Since yesterday was Easter, I made an exception - which presented one problem - what to do about pantyhose. Since I never wear dresses I just could not bring myself to spend money on maternity pantyhose. My solution? Thigh highs. It seemed perfect.

It was not me who failed to realize that thigh highs just don't work for women with bird legs. I was not struggling to keep them up all through church. Nor was I horrified to realize one was down around my calf while I was going through the buffet for lunch. I was not certain that half the restaurant was pointing and laughing. Oh no...not me!

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I have not completely given up in and started driving the Teen to school in my PJ's every morning.

This to not come back to bite me when the refridgerator repair man showed up at 7:30 rather than 8AM. Oh no. I was not horrified to see him sitting in our driveway when I returned from the school wearing my PJ's and robe, with straight-from-the-shower wet hair and not a stitch of makeup. I would have been completely ready for the day before I ever left the house.

This certainly did not happen over two weeks ago and I'm just mentioning it now because I've been to lazy to write any Not Me's for the last few weeks. Oh no, Not Me!

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I have not started drinking soda pop again now while I'm pregnant. After not drinking pop for 5 years, that would be crazy.

Yesterday we had our air ducts cleaned.

Today, our entire house is covered in dust. I am not so overwhelmed by the task of cleaning this up that I have given up after cleaning one room.

I did not realize that even all the plant leaves are covered and decide to sit down and blog rather than clean. I would never leave my house in this condition and just sit back and hope it goes away, oh no. Not me!

I did not eat crackers in bed, get crumbs all over, and then blame it on the dogs.

I have not worn sweatpants to work every day for the last week just because I am too lazy to go pick out some maternity pants. Really, what kind of person wears sweatpants to work?

So what have you not done this week?

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

-I am not still tired after sleeping fourteen hours last night. And that was not after a two hour nap yesterday afternoon.

-I have not fed my family fast food or pizza four times in the last week because I'm too tired to cook! Nope, not me!

-I have not completely given up on wearing anything but sweatpants, nor did I wear sweatpants to work everyday last week!

-I have not been living on frozen waffles with powdered sugar and muffins for last week, since nothing else seems to stay down. Nope - it's all fruits and veggies would be best for the baby!

-I did not upload the sermon outline and PowerPoint to the church website on Friday and then forget to make it live. Nor did I decide to sleep in on Sunday only to get to church just before the sermon to find the PowerPoint operator panicking trying to find the slides! I would never do such a thing!

Not Me!

Last Monday I woke up thinking it strange that I did not have even one Not Me! to blog about. What a perfectly well-behaved week, or so I thought. What followed the rest of the day proved to be quite a Not Me! Monday after all.

I started by calling the OB clinic because the anti-nausea prescription they gave me on Thursday had given me a migraine by Friday. After not having taken it all weekend I was right back to constant nausea and vomiting. I thought surely they could just call in a new prescription for something else. Really, it seemed simple enough.

After a brief conversation with the crabbiest, rudest OB nurse I had ever had the displeasure of speaking with, I was on my way to the clinic for an appointment.

- I was not muttering under my breath the whole way about the crabby nurse, or the stupid appointment which was sure to result in another $22 copay.

-I was not disgusted by the idiots in the always-overfull parking ramp who park crooked and take up two parking spaces.

-I was not annoyed that I had to park all the way on the top level while it was snowing to go to the appointment, all the while cursing HP and the crabby nurse who was making me come in.

-I stopped down at the lab first for a UA, as told to do by the aforementioned nurse and was as polite as could be not rude to the person at check in who had no idea why I was there. Apparently Nurse Crabby forgot to tell them I was coming.

-I was not completely fed up by the time a reached the OB clinic.

-Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised to learn there was no copy.

-It was not me who started to fell slightly guilty about being so mad when a very kind nurse discovered I had lost another 2 lbs over the weekend.

-I was not eating my angry words when the Dr came in with the results from the UA which showed I was dehydrated and had protein in my urine.

-I did not feel even the slightest bit silly for being so upset about having to see the Dr as they set me up for IV fluids that I was in great need of.

-I was not feeling guilty for cursing HP when Nurse Friendly brought me extra blankets and a heating pad.

-The guilt did not immediately dissolve back into irritation when Nurse Friendly couldn't find a vein for the IV and had to get Nurse Crabby to help.

-The part where Nurse Crabby blew up one of my veins, leaving an ugly black and blue mark on my hand, didn't bother me at all. Nope, I was perfectly calm. And I did not feel the least bit bad when she was very kind and apologetic about it. Nope, I didn't need to feel bad since I was not upset!

-I did not end up having a wonderful nice nap under the extra warm blanket that Nurse-not-quite-so-crabby-as-I-first-thought brought me.

-I did not end up feeling even worse about my own crabbiness when Nurse Crabby-now-Nurse Friendly II stopped in all afternoon being very kind and compassionate.

All in all, I felt much better after the afternoon on the IV and I left HP glad that was my clinic and even appreciating both nurses.

At least up until the part where I got to my car that was buried in snow!

A Not Me! Monday Surprise Announcement

OK, first the *secret* surprise:

And boy, was Mr K suprised. As was I. Thrilled, overjoyed, shocked, thankful, anxious, tired, nauseated and very surprised.

This is also the first Not Me! of the week. I would never blog about something we decided to keep a secret until after the first trimester. Really. Then it would hardly be a secret. So shhhh... don't tell!

I did not find over the past week that it was impossible to blog without sharing the news.

Nor have I been so distracted by thoughts of tiny baby socks, precious moments nursing in the middle of the night, first baths, first steps, and the craziness of having kids 15 years apart that I would set frosting on the stove to warm, decide to make some tea, and turn on the wrong burner.

Oh, and I wasn't using store-bought frosting because I was too lazy to make the cream cheese frosting for this rainbow cake:

Nope... Not Me!

Not Me!

Are you feeling guilty for failing to return that great magazine that the mailman accidentally put in your mail box rather than your neighbors? Hoping that nobody is waiting for that library book you've had for three months? Then Not Me! Monday is just for you. It's a time for all of us to confess our shortcomings laugh with each other.

I have not, at any point, EVER found myself praying for a character in a book I was reading during my prayer time. Really.

Nor did I decide to save time Christmas afternoon by cooking the wild rice in the morning so that my mother would have something to keep warm in her new

Crock Pot Trio that we gave her for Christmas. And, wild rice does NOT turn to mush in the crock pot. It in no way resembled oatmeal by dinnertime.

I did not, at any point this week, stay in my PJ's until 2PM.

This did not happen on a day that I had taken off to install Windows 7 on my sweet new Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA drive. Nor am I so much of a geek that I would actually find a hard drive cool.

And that copy of 7 has not been sitting on my desk waiting to be installed since Oct 22, while I continued to use the beta version. I'm always on top of these things.

On that very morning I did not begin making a late pancake breakfast and take a quick minute to see if Firefox was done installing.

This did not happen because of that quick minute.

I was not at any point relieved that I have yet to plastic a few of our windows....

...so that I could air out the house. Nor would I ever open the windows when it is 33 degrees outside.

*** Yes, my non-frozen tundra dwelling friends, we do actually do plastic over the windows here. And I would never wait until December to do this.

I did not put the pancakes that I burned did not burn outside to cool....

Only to check back later and discover this cat:

from this Not Me! post eating the pancakes.

I did not wish at that moment that I had poisoned the pancakes first.

Nope, not me!

It was not me sitting at the organ yesterday ready for my roaring organ intro to "Come Ye Sinners Lost and Hopeless" ....

who realized after two measures that she was playing the tune of "Love Divine All Loves Excelling."

I did not immediately break into a sweat as the singers looked over at me in utter confusion.

And my face did not turn as red as my sweater as I smoothly transitioned to the correct melody. I am always well practiced, cool, calm and collected.

This is certainly not my messy office.

And this is not the salad dressing I brought to work a week ago. And, of course, it has not been sitting on my desk all this time.

I would never leave expensive sound equipment or projectors on the floor. And that is NOT a pitcher of water next to the electronics.

Don't worry, this giant mess at work did not happen because I was sick all week but too stubborn to stay home. (Not to worry, I work alone so there's no one else to give my germs to)

And I'm not pretending not to notice it today because it just seems like too much of a mess to even begin to tackle!

I did not swish around the dirty clothes soaking in a bucket in the laundry room and then wipe my hands on a blue towel, only to realize they smell strangely like bleach!

I have never used the kitchen towels to wipe up dog pee. I am always on top of our household inventory and would never run out of paper towels.

I did not utter a minor cuss word in church when the organ went out during worship. For that matter, I would never go several months without checking the tubes to make sure the minor worship emergencies don't happen.

**Yes, I failed to mention here that I am the organist, so I was sitting in front of 350 people playing the organ when suddenly it stopped making sound. Yep. It was bad.

I have not, even once swore when being woke up at 5:30 in the morning again by this crying cat.

Nor have I thrown rocks at it.

Or shot a BB at it.

I would never speed up when seeing this cat cross the street in front of my car because I love when cats that aren't mine poop in my garden, leave dead things in my driveway, get my dogs all riled up, and wake me up at 5:30 every morning by crying in my window - apparently wanting to get into my house!

I have not thought about leaving a strongly worded letter in my neighbors mail box about their neglected cat.

Nor have I thought about dropping this "stray" off at the humane society.

Nope not me!

Not Me Monday October 19

Welcome to another Not Me Monday!

I most certainly did NOT respond to my husband's comment on our pork chops by screeching "Then cook them yourself!" Nope, not me. I'm would always respond respectfully!

I never even for a moment thought about using this:

In the battle of the ficus tree.

Nope, not me!

I was not standing over the stove this morning trying to figure out why the eggs were cooking so slowly, only to discover that I had turned the wrong burner off when the sausage was done. This did not happen because I stayed up too late last night reading a great book by Karen Kingsbury. I always start out the week well rested!!

Not Me Monday October 12 2009

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I was not so pleased to have a morning with the house all to myself that I drove T to school in my PJ's so I could go right back to bed when I got home. I would never go out in my PJ's, and if I had a morning off I would do something much more useful than sleep. Like cleaning, or baking, or something productive!

And I certainly did not let the beagles sleep with me on that very same morning. They are never allowed on the furniture.

And I was not the least bit disappointed when my quiet morning at home came to a screeching halt when the school nurse called because T was sick.

I never once used the 5 second rule for anything I fed my family this week.

Nope. Not me!

Not Me!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I most certainly did NOT bake a loaf of Mckmama's Beer Bread only to eat the entire loaf in a day, and then bake another one to cover my tracks!

I would NEVER allow my son to top his waffles with chocolate frosting, powdered sugar, and ice cream. We only have healthy breakfasts in our house.

I definitely did not let my son sleep over at a friend's house on a Saturday night just so I could have a nice evening ALONE with my husband, I always do what's in his best interest!

I have never had a case of baby envy, not even after spending an evening with these guys:
